prime & paint

After wiping down the furniture, apply a good layer of primer. It is always a good idea to use primer before painting even if your color will easily cover the furniture without the background bleeding through. If anything, primer helps prep the surface for your layers of paint even more than steps 1 & 2. Then, apply 2 coats of paint to the furniture with plenty of time to dry in between coats.

tip: get a good name-brand paint for your project, you don't want to be stingy with this part of your project. for best results, use a paint and primer base for your paint color of choice.
